The Lord Mayor's Show 2011

This years Lord Mayor’s show saw the Heritage Fleet’s RMC 1464, the Open Topper, in the parade to transport staff and family from Lloyd’s Register, who were celebrating 250 years of the companies service.

The work of Lloyd’s Register helps many things that affect people’s lives, like the ships that trade around the world, and the nuclear power plants that generate energy for our homes and schools. The organisation covers safety on land, at sea and in the air as well as helping to advance education and look after the environment.

Apart from carrying the Lloyd’s Register band, a bagpiper and a Pearly King from Upminster, the bus also carried the various goodies that the staff distributed to spectators lining the route. The packs contained little gifts plus an explanation of the work the company carries out across the world.

The bus was decorated with messages about the Lloyd’s Register services, and photographs from some of the projects they have been involved with over the past year of celebrations.

Lincoln and Peter, the two Arriva drivers for the day, said what a privilege it was to be able to drive at such a prestigious event, and to see and hear such an amazing array of displays.
