The Discovery Channel

Discovery Channel is the leading factual entertainment channel in the UK providing engaging stories told on a spectacular scale. A recent story has been the Industrial Revelations programmes, presented by Rory McGrath featuring the best of British Engineering.

Featured in one of the programmes has been the Iconic Routemaster bus. Supplied by Arriva from their Arriva Heritage Fleet, the actual bus featured was RM2217 the very last Routemaster run, before they were taken out of general service in 2005.

To reward loyal Discovery Channel viewers in the UK and to give them an opportunity to interact with the channel, Discovery have brought ‘Industrial Revelations’ out of the television and into the lives of people, by creating a traveling interactive family attraction, visiting The Farnborough International Air show, Sunderland International Air show and The Discovery Channel International Balloon Fiesta in Bristol.

The Road show features the RM2217 which has been supplied to these locations by The Arriva Heritage Fleet support team, giving the public the opportunity once again to experience these amazing buses at first hand.

Discovery Channel Advertising was created and fitted to the bus, which covered over a thousand miles with the Road show

Rajinder Buhal Discovery Channel Event Manager said:
‘I found Arriva very efficient and very professional to deal with. I think I presented them with some difficult feats, because we weren’t just taking the bus to venues close to London, I actually needed the bus at Farnborough International Air Show, I then wanted to take it to Sunderland, I then wanted to take it to Bristol.

So trying to find a firm that was trustworthy and that I knew could actually deliver a working bus to those sites, was essential and Arriva have done all that form me.
